Vegetarian Vs Meat Eaters. Which are Healthier?

Surprising findings on diseases and longevity in vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores (which most meat eaters are).

Dr. Michel Greger (who is a vegetarian) found that not only did meat eaters live just as long as vegetarians.

But there was one area in which vegetarians fared much worse.

Vegetarians were twice as likely to die of neurological disease.  (brain problems).

His recommendations were Omega-3 and Vitamin B-12.

These are important for everyone by the way.  His suggestion for Omega-3s is flax seed.  Flax seed must be ground before eating it otherwise we don’t digest it.  There are other sources of omega-3s both vegan and non-vegetarian.

Vegetarians must supplement B-12.  As sould others – but that is another discussion.

    I know that a friend of mine who works in NICU is very concerned over data regarding babies and vegetarian mothers. It seems that critical elements in the breast milk don’t exist in the quantities needed for babies to maintain a healthy weight.There are similar findings on young children put on fat free diets and brain development. While sugar free, fat free may be desirable for adults and older children, it’s important to look at how these can impact young children in ways that will affect them their entire lives.
